5 Checks To Make On Your Car Before Going On Vacation

5 Checks To Make On Your Car Before Going On Vacation

The vacation season is approaching rapidly, and the desire to hit the road in one's car is becoming more and more tempting. Although we are all excited about the idea of a road trip, its success depends first and foremost on the preparation we put into ensuring our vehicle is in proper working order. In order to ensure that the experience is as enjoyable as possible and that you can stay in the present moment, Groupe Park Avenue presents you with 5 checks to make before setting off:

Check the condition of the tires

Perhaps the most obvious but important element to check is the condition of your tires. Since worn-out tires have less grip on the road, it is essential to inspect them before embarking on a long journey. To get a good idea of the tire's condition, you can use a 25-cent coin: by placing the caribou's nose towards the tire, you should not be able to see the tip of its snout. If you can see the nose or if you are uncertain about their wear, you should consult our specialists before your departure.

Check the various fluids

Your vehicle requires several fluids under the hood to ensure proper functioning. Therefore, before hitting the road for several days, checking all of them could save you from unpleasant surprises. Engine oil, brake fluid, coolant, and windshield washer fluid should all be regularly inspected.

Check the condition of the brakes

Essential for your safety and that of others, brakes in good condition can prevent many mishaps on the road. Therefore, check their responsiveness during braking to identify if they take longer than usual. It is usually recommended to have the brakes inspected with every tire change as a safety measure.

Check the air conditioning

The Quebec temperature can be particularly hot and dry in July and August, and a functioning air conditioning system can make all the difference during your journey. Signs of a faulty air conditioning system may include unusual odors, poor airflow in the vehicle, or noise during operation. Additionally, it is recommended to change your filter once a year or every 15,000 km traveled to ensure good air quality.

The date of the last inspection performed

Even if you don't see or hear anything abnormal with your vehicle, it is recommended to have your vehicle inspected by a mechanic at least twice a year. If it has been a while since your last inspection, it would be wise to have your vehicle inspected to have peace of mind and avoid any unexpected surprises that may occur during your trip.

If you have any doubts about the condition of your vehicle after conducting these checks, the technical advisors at Groupe Park Avenue will be able to provide you with the best possible advice. Schedule an appointment now by clicking on the following link.
